Gaming Weblog

Wow, Christmas is over, and it was rather crazy around my house. Unfortunately, the chaos of having little ones around when presents are involved sort of made almost any gaming during family gatherings a near impossibility. But, at least, the week before Christmas was our last game night of the year, and it was pretty darn great, both in what I got to play and how many people were able to be there! And as a little extra holiday bonus for me, it even got started a lot earlier than usual due to an eye doctor appointment that afternoon!
So having such a great evening of gaming was almost like my first real Christmas present of the season…

Okay, let’s try to get back into the swing of actually writing about games for a change! After many, many absences over the last few months, I hope to have now returned to a more consistent attendance. I made a couple of visits back in November that I’ll touch on, but most of these games were played this very week, but the rest of the backlog will just have to be lost to the void of time. So, let’s get on with it!

As this article is being published through the wonder of computers and their ability to schedule things ahead of time, I’m making my way to Charlotte for my 10th annual MACE. Hopefully, I’ll have lots of cool things to talk about from it and my 3 days straight of gaming there, but first, let me catch up on this week’s game night and all it entailed.
Because, you know, it continues to be a strange period in my gaming career. After missing last week’s regular game night because I was still recovering from Extra Life and my ensuing illness, I was glad to get back this week. But there were only 7 of us there the whole night, and never more than 5 of us at any one time around a table together. I’m hoping that’s just a fluke, though, and despite me not being able to get in a game of our Game of the Month! (X-Wing Minis, which I’m freaking dying to play more), it was still a lot of fun…

I’m not as young as I used to be.
On the front side of the Extra Life event, a 24-hour gaming marathon sounded like a really cool idea. I was all giddy and happy and excited to play so many games with my gaming homies…

As I mentioned the other day, it’s been a really long time since I actually got to play games. So it was with great elation that I walked triumphantly back into Hypermind on Tuesday evening for a solid session of gaming with my buddies. I have received a few prototypes in the intervening period of time, and I was really anxious to get them (especially Viticulture) to the table. But since we were waiting for Tom to arrive before getting started, we instead went with the spirit of the Halloweeney season and played a couple games of…

PhotobucketLast week’s game night was pretty exceptional, starting right from the fact that I arrived about an hour earlier than normal! I also got in plays of a couple of old favorites and one brand-new hotness that just blew me away. But first, my evening started off with a game of…
