In this episode, I host my first guest, my friend Tom Gurganus.  He writes the Go Forth and Game blog, and recently wrote a couple of articles about “What Makes a Great Game?”, which is the Blog Spotlight for this episode.  Afterwards, I review Mission: Red Planet in my first “From the Archives…” segment.

Listen, enjoy (hopefully), and feel free to give me feedback either here, via email (gamerchris@bellsouth.net), or at my Guild on BoardGameGeek.

  1. Another great Podcast! Congrats Tom on being the first person on Chris’ podcast. Chris, this podcast was really well done, and I like how each one seems to get better and better. You seemed much more comfortable. I’m not sure if it was the time of day of the recording, or that you had someone on, or what it was. If you ever want myself as a guest, i’d be more than happy to join you. I may not be able to bring things to the table that a Chris Ingersoll or Kenny, or Tom, would bring but I think I could bring some things to the table from a casual gamer who likes the big games as well perspective. Also, I’d love to see you do a guest spot with the group on our 24 hour journey in October. Let me know if you need assistance with MICS/etc.

  2. Chris Norwood

Thanks, Shawn!  Having another person on the show helped, I think, even though I sort of made a mistake about having too many pieces of paper with notes and highlights and all in front of me, which I felt like distracted me a little at times from the actual conversation.

But speaking of Extra Life and podcasting from there, we probably do need to talk about options for equipment and recording.  I basically just use a single USB mic and my laptop to record, and I’m not sure how well it would work with multiple people/multiple mics.  Do you have any sort of portable recorder and/or mixing board that would work?
