This report is a bit of a mess. It covers 2 game nights spread over 3 weeks, which certainly isn’t ideal for giving any coherent thoughts on the earlier games I played. But I’ll give it a try, even if my remembrance of the actual game events are a little sketchy…

Okay, it’s pretty obvious that I love games. I’d rather get a game than anything else for Christmas or any other gift-giving celebration. Maybe you like games too, or you think that someone on your gift list would appreciate some sort of game. But there’s just so many games out there these days, and frankly, a lot of the ones you’ll find in mass-market stores are pretty terrible.

But there’s no reason to fear, my 2011 Holiday Gift Guide is here!

Below, you will find 25 games that I think will make really fantastic gifts

This past weekend was (arguably) my biggest gaming weekend of the year, MACE. I’ve been going for 9 years now, and had some really high hopes that this might possibly be the best year ever considering how many friends (new and old) were going to be there. In the end, my expectations were probably a little unreasonably high, but despite some disappointment here and there, I still had a really great time…

I’m a little bit giddy today. Sure, part of it is the 3 hours of sleep I had after staying out too late at game night. But the bigger issue at hand is the fact that part of the evening’s festivities included a couple of playtest games for Acute Care! I’ll get to how it went a little later, but let me back up a little…

I had another episode of impeccable timing this week, arriving right in the freaking middle of a number of games I’d love to have played. But finally, after browsing the shelves, taking some pictures of the gaming action, and getting totally jealous of all the play time, I was able to get in a game of our new Game of the Month!…

I got an interesting Geekmail yesterday from BGG user Chad DeShon about a 2012 Board Game weekly desk calendar that he’s been putting together. It looks really cool, and best of all, he’s using three of my pictures in the project!

As I’ve mentioned before, my 3-year-old daughter (Samantha) and I are beginning to play more and more games together. And I’ve also been pretty blessed to receive some children’s games from both Gamewright and Out of the Box, so I am trying to catch up a little on doing some reviews for their games as well. None of these games really need a full review of their own, so I’m going to try out a quick-hit review style to knock out a number of them at a time every so often…
